#61 of CFNY's Best 87 of 87, Public Image Limited, Happy?

Sirius/XM's 1st Wave plays this song WAY too much. (And while I'm ranting, I wish that they'd stop playing REM every hour.)

I much prefer this catchy tune from PiL, which I first heard thanks to Night Flight. The video was seriously trippy to my 13-year-old brain. But I liked the song enough to eventually buy the 12", and as I am prone to do with music I dig, I played it over and over and over, which drove my poor mother insane. Poor Mom. Dad, he didn't care as much, but he did pitch a fit when he heard the lyrics to Lydon's other band's song "Anarchy in the U.K." (Something about being sacreligious?)

Or what about this infamous appearance on American Bandstand?

#62 of CFNY's Best 87 of 87, Screaming Blue Messiahs, "I Wanna Be a Flinstone"

"Yabba Dabba Doo time"

Finally, a good song that I remember! (Actually, this might be the only song I remember from the Screaming Blue Messiahs.)

As far as comical Flinstone songs go (would there be a serious one?), this tune is better than Weird Al Yankovic's "Bedrock Anthem."

#63 of CFNY's Best 87 of 87, Yello, One Second

I admittedly know close to nothing about this band except that they come from the wonderful land of the Helvetica Confederation, and that darn "Oh Yeah" song was ubiquitous in the eighties. The late, great Billy MacKenzie contributed to this tune:

And this song predates 1987, but Billy MacKenzie was such an underrated New Waver.

#64 of CFNY's Best 87 of 87, Van Morrison, Poetic Champions Compose

Yet another "WTF, CFNY?!?"

I never really got the appeal of Van Morrison. I remember my college friends dancing drunkenly to "Brown-Eyed Girl." That's not drunk-dancing music, and it's certainly not the music I remember from CFNY.

Anyway, here it is. The countdown gets better, I promise.
