#66 of CFNY's Best 87 of 87, Psychedelic Furs, Midnight to Midnight
From Dave Thompson's All Music Guide's review of "Heartbreak Beat":
I always found Richard Butler's enunciation of "Heartbreak Beat" very Peter Garrett-esque. Maybe that's just me.
This is my favorite Psychedelic Furs song.
Useless trivia: The Butlers' post-Psychedelic Furs band, Love Spit Love, covered the Smiths' "How Soon Is Now?" That cover would be the theme song for one of my mother's favorite shows, Charmed.
"Taken from 1987's Midnight to Midnight album, "Heartbreak Beat" was a skillful distillation of everything America liked about the Psychedelic Furs' past work -- the danceability of "Heartbeat," the melodic élan of "Love My Way," the visceral thump of "President Gas."

Yeah, it's probably just you. ;)
I do like the way Richard Butler says "heartbeat," though.
I'm more of a "Heaven" person when it comes to the Furs (the video was a staple of my music video watching days as a small person).
Charmed, eh?
